One of the most highly regarded manga series that has never received an official English translation is finally making its way to the U.S. and other English-speaking markets after nearly two decades.

VIZ Media has officially announced that Yasuhisa Hara’s critically acclaimed masterpiece, Kingdom, will at last be published in English following overwhelming demand from fans.

Kingdom has been serialized in Japan’s Weekly Young Jump magazine, published by Shueisha, since January 2006. Over the years, the series has sold an impressive 110 million copies and has inspired an anime adaptation, two live-action films, and multiple video games.

Set during China’s Warring States period, the story follows a young warrior named Xin as he embarks on a quest to unify the nation. To date, Kingdom has released 79 volumes in Japan.

“Providing readers with a gripping look into one of the most pivotal eras in Chinese history, Kingdom takes place during China’s Warring States period and follows Xin, a war orphan from the kingdom of Qin who aspires to become a great general and unite China,” reads VIZ Media’s official description.

“After the mysterious death of his closest friend, Piao, Xin sets off on a journey to fulfill their shared dream. Along the way, he crosses paths with Ying Zheng, a young king who bears an uncanny resemblance to Piao and enlists Xin’s help in reclaiming his throne to change the course of history.”

VIZ has previously described Kingdom as “our most fan-requested title ever,” making its English debut a highly anticipated event.

The launch begins with Kingdom Vol. 1, which is scheduled for release on November 11, 2025. The first volume will also be available on VIZ’s Shonen Jump digital reading service, coinciding with the physical release of the English edition.
