A Wild Last Boss Appeared

The production team behind the television anime adaptation of A Wild Last Boss Appeared!, the light novel series by Firehead and YahaKo, revealed key details about the show on Monday, including its main staff, voice cast, a teaser video, a promotional visual, and its scheduled October premiere.

A newly released teaser visual features Lufas and Dina set against a backdrop of stained glass windows.

Ami Koshimizu takes on the lead role as Lufas Maphaahl, while Yuri Usui voices Dina.

Yūya Horiuchi (Nijiyon Animation, Nijiyon Animation 2) is directing the series at studio Wao World, with WOWMAX handling production. Kazuyuki Fudeyasu (Is the order a rabbit? franchise, Girls’ Last Tour) serves as the series script supervisor.

Character designs for animation are crafted by Maiko Ebisawa (noted for key animation in Wonder Egg Priority and Sword Art Online: Alicization), while Takashi Kobayashi (Time Travel Girl, Magikano) and Shōta Ueno (Seirei Gensouki – Spirit Chronicles) contribute as sub-character designers.

J-Novel Club is publishing the novel series digitally in English and describes the story as follows:

The year is 2800, and Lufas Maphaahl—The Black-Winged Tyrant, Great Conqueror, and leader of the Twelve Heavenly Stars—has returned.

A man awakens in the body of his MMO character 200 years after her defeat in a player-driven event in Exgate Online.

Trapped in her form, he soon realizes that this is no longer just a game—it’s real. With Lufas’s reign long over and her name feared across the world, she must now navigate Exgate, seeking answers, potential allies, and a way to deal with the monsters that her supposed “death” unleashed upon the land…

Originally launched on the Shōsetsuka ni Narō (Let’s Be Novelists) website in 2015, A Wild Last Boss Appeared! concluded in 2017. Earth Star Entertainment later published the series in print, releasing the ninth and final light novel volume in April 2019.

The story also inspired a manga adaptation by artist Tsubasa Hazuki, which debuted on the Comic Earth Star website in 2017. Earth Star Entertainment is set to release the manga’s 10th volume on February 12. J-Novel Club is also making the manga available in English.
