Aisarenakute mo Betsu ni Live-Action Film Announces July 4 Premiere

Aisarenakute mo Betsu ni Live-Action Film

Production company LesPros Entertainment announced on Friday that it is producing a live-action film adaptation of Ayano Takeda’s novel Aisarenakute mo Betsu ni (I Don’t Really Care if I’m Not Loved).

The film is set to premiere on July 4, with Sara Minami starring as the protagonist Hiiro Miyata. Aya Igashi is directing the film.

Story Overview

The novel follows Hiiro Miyata, a directionless college student who spends most of her time working a part-time job. However, rather than for personal reasons, she works mainly to provide financial support to her single mother, who struggles with a gacha game addiction. While Miyata does not harbor hatred toward her mother, she feels trapped by the obligation of loving her.

During her job, she meets Miyabi Enaga, another woman with a similarly complicated family background. As the two grow closer, they reflect on the small despairs of life, the disappointments and inequalities of modern society, and the ways in which various forms of “love” can become chains of obligation and coercion.

Background on the Novel

Takeda and Kodansha published Aisarenakute mo Betsu ni in August 2020. The novel was nominated for the Sakunosuke Oda Prize in the same year and later won the Eiji Yoshikawa Literary Award’s Rookie of the Year prize in 2021.

  • OVAs covering additional side stories

The third and most recent season of the Sound! Euphonium anime premiered in April 2024. Yen Press has also published the first Sound! Euphonium novel in English.

In addition to her novels, Takeda collaborated with Musshu to launch the manga series Hana wa Saku, Shura no Gotoku (FLOWER AND ASURA) in Shueisha’s Ultra Jump magazine in June 2021. The series’ eighth compiled volume was released on January 17, 2025.

A television anime adaptation of Hana wa Saku, Shura no Gotoku began airing on January 7, 2025, and is currently available for streaming on HIDIVE.
