Aniplex Confirmed The Anime Adaptation For Sakae Saitō’s Touring After the Apocalypse

Touring After the Apocalypse

Aniplex announced on Monday that it is producing a television anime adaptation of Sakae Saitō’s Touring After the Apocalypse (Shūmatsu Touring) manga, set to premiere this year. The series will be animated by Nexus.

The main cast includes:

  • Konomi Inagaki as Youko
  • Miyu Tomita as Airi

Aniplex had previously teased the announcement on Friday with an image featuring two women standing beside a motorcycle in the middle of Shibuya. On Monday, the anime’s official X/Twitter account confirmed that the image actually depicted the two lead voice actresses.

Yen Press publishes the manga in English and describes it as follows:

“All alone after the end of days, two girls ride through the desolate ruins of Japan—but they’re not about to let the collapse of civilization get in the way of sightseeing!

Touring After the Apocalypse

From the hot springs of Hakone to the massive Tokyo Big Sight, they’ve got the run of the country’s most popular tourist spots all to themselves, so why not make the most of it?”

Sakae Saitō launched the manga in Kadokawa’s Dengeki Maoh magazine in September 2020. Kadokawa published the sixth compiled volume in June 2024 and will release the seventh volume on March 27, 2025.

Saitō has previously worked on several manga adaptations, including:

  • Katana Maidens: Toji no Miko (published in Shōnen Ace from October 2017 to March 2019)
  • Super Cub Rei, a spinoff of Tone Koken and Hiro’s Super Cub light novel series (Comic Newtype, April 2022 – January 2024)
  • Buddy Complex – Senjō no Coupling
  • Heavy Object S and Heavy Object A
