The third issue of Hakusensha’s Young Animal magazine for this year announced on Friday that Kentarō Miura’s manga Berserk will return in the magazine’s next issue, set to release on February 14. The series has been on hiatus since November 8, marking a three-month break.
Miura passed away on May 6, 2021, at the age of 54 due to acute aortic dissection. Following his death, the manga went on hiatus but resumed serialization in Young Animal in June 2022. The manga is now credited as follows: “Original work by Kentarō Miura, manga by Studio Gaga, supervised by Kouji Mori.”
Studio Gaga consists of Miura’s studio team, including his assistants and apprentices who had collaborated with him on Berserk. Kouji Mori, a close childhood friend of Miura, frequently served as a consultant for the series’ plot.

Berserk Manga
In June 2022, Mori stated that he “know[s] the story for Berserk up to the very end.” Mori also created a one-shot manga in Young Animal in 2021, recounting his lifelong friendship and creative partnership with Miura.
The most recent volume of the manga, its 42nd, marks the first compiled release since Studio Gaga and Mori took over the series after Miura’s passing. This volume was published in Japan in September 2023.
Meanwhile, Dark Horse Comics is set to release the English version on March 18, marking the first English release of a Berserk volume in three years since the 41st volume debuted in November 2022. The 41st volume of Berserk, which includes the final chapters created by Miura himself, was released in Japan in December 2021.
