Bocchi The Rock Anime Confirms Second Season With A Teaser Reveal

During a special live event in Tokyo, it was officially announced that the TV anime adaptation of BOCCHI THE ROCK! will be receiving a second season.

This exciting news was accompanied by a teaser illustration (below) by key animator Keimon Oda, depicting Hitori Gotoh, also known as “Bocchi-chan,” caught in an awkward moment while being surrounded by an eager group of reporters.

For the upcoming season, Yuusuke Yamamoto, who previously served as assistant director for the first season, will be stepping up as director at animation studio CloverWorks.

Erika Yoshida will handle the scripts, while Keimon Oda and Kerorira return to provide character designs. As of now, no additional information regarding the new season has been disclosed.

A teaser illustration for the newly announced second season, created by key animator Keimon Oda, showcases Hitori Gotoh clad in a dark hoodie and sunglasses, with her guitar case slung over her back.

She stands under a spotlight against a concrete wall, with multiple hands aggressively pointing microphones in her direction. Captured in a moment of surprise, Hitori’s expression is one of shock, and her right hand inadvertently forms a “peace sign.”

Adapted from the manga by Aki Hamazaki, the first season of BOCCHI THE ROCK! was directed by Keiichiro Saito at CloverWorks. Crunchyroll currently streams both the series and the two compilation anime films. The platform describes the story as follows:

Hitori Gotoh, known as “Bocchi-chan,” is a girl who struggles with extreme introversion and shyness, often beginning her conversations with “Ah…”

In middle school, she took up the guitar in hopes that joining a band would give her a chance to shine, even as a socially anxious person. However, since she had no friends, she spent six hours every day practicing guitar alone.

After honing her skills, she started uploading videos of her guitar performances online under the alias “Guitar Hero,” dreaming of performing at her school’s cultural festival.

However, not only did she fail to find bandmates, but before she knew it, she had entered high school without making a single friend.

On the verge of becoming a complete shut-in, Hitori’s life took a turn when Nijika Ijichi, the drummer of Kessoku Band, reached out to her. That encounter set off a chain of small yet significant changes in her daily life…
