Entertainment news website Deadline reported on Wednesday that Norihiro Yagi’s Claymore manga is being adapted into a live-action television series. CBS Studios and Propagate Content are collaborating on the project alongside Shueisha and actor Masi Oka (Heroes, Hawaii Five-0).
Oka, a manga fan who previously co-produced Netflix’s live-action Death Note movie, will serve as an executive producer. Ben Silverman, Howard T. Owens, and Propagate Content’s Rodney Ferrell are also involved in producing the series.
The fantasy adventure manga follows a half-human woman who hunts shape-shifting yōma creatures in a medieval setting.

Claymore Manga
Yagi launched Claymore in 2001 in Shueisha’s Monthly Shonen Jump magazine and concluded the series in 2014. Following the discontinuation of Monthly Shonen Jump in 2007, the manga transitioned to Jump Square. The 27th and final compiled volume was released in Japan in December 2014.
Viz Media published the complete 27-volume series in North America. The manga inspired a television anime adaptation in 2007, which was later released on home video by Funimation.
Although Jump Square had originally listed the manga as ending in 2012, it was later confirmed to be a misprint.
