Netflix revealed the opening sequence video for the upcoming animated series based on CAPCOM’s Devil May Cry video game franchise on Friday. The video features the song “Rollin'” by Limp Bizkit and also reveals that the series will premiere on April 3.

Adi Shankar and Alex Larsen, known for Yasuke, completed the scripts for the first season of the series by November 2021. Studio Mir is handling the animation for the series, which is planned to have multiple seasons.

Johnny Yong Bosch will provide the voice for Dante in the English-dubbed version of the show.

The first season will consist of eight episodes, featuring key characters such as Dante, Vergil, and Lady.

Shankar announced that he had acquired the rights to the Devil May Cry series in November 2018, mentioning that the series would be part of what he calls the “bootleg multiverse,” alongside Castlevania.

The Devil May Cry game series previously inspired a 12-episode anime series produced by Madhouse in 2007. ADV Films and later Funimation released this series on home video, and Crunchyroll began streaming it in June 2017.

The Devil May Cry 5 game was released in March 2019 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC, followed by a special edition in 2020 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X.

In addition to the games, the Devil May Cry franchise has inspired novels, manga, and even a stage play crossover with Sengoku Basara. A Devil May Cry: The Live Hacker stage play took place in Tokyo in March 2019.
