The combined fourth and fifth issue of Shogakukan’s Weekly Shonen Sunday magazine for 2025, released on Wednesday, announced that Kanehito Yamada and Tsukasa Abe’s Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End (Sōsō no Frieren) manga will be taking a hiatus starting with the next issue.
This comes shortly after the series had returned from a previous break in the magazine’s combined second and third issues of 2025, which were released on December 11. That break lasted two weeks, beginning in late November.
The manga had also returned on August 7 following another hiatus that began on May 15. Yamada and Abe debuted the ongoing manga in Weekly Shonen Sunday in April 2020.

Viz Media holds the English license for the series and released the 11th volume in English on September 10. The manga has seen a circulation increase of 7 million copies since the debut of its anime adaptation, bringing its total circulation to over 17 million copies.
The Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End anime premiered with a two-hour special in September 2023, and a second season is in production.
