The official website for Hana-Doll: Reinterpretation of Flowering, the television anime based on MOVIC’s Hana Doll franchise, began streaming a new promotional video on Thursday.

This video reveals and previews the anime’s opening theme song “Clockwork Flowers,” performed by the in-story idol group Anthos. Additionally, the video reveals the anime’s premiere date set for April 9. The trailer also introduces the anime’s ending theme song, “Fall leaves after fall,” which is also by Anthos.

The anime will air on Tokyo MX, BS NTV, Sun TV, KBS Kyoto, and TV Aichi starting on April 9.

Risa Arai, who served as a design assistant for 18if, is in charge of character design, while GyroKnuckle, known for The Family Circumstances of the Irregular Witch, is supervising the series scripts.

Takanori Yamaura, who worked on Musasino!, serves as the animation producer at A-Real, with Saya Fukase of UWAN Pictures, known for her work on Azur Lane and Ensemble Stars!, producing the 3D CG. The franchise creator, R/0, is credited as the “Amagiri supervising producer.”

Set within the “2.5D idol project,” the Hana Ningyō Project (Flower Doll Project) is an endeavor to artificially create “perfect idols” by implanting special flower seeds inside their bodies. The story follows young men who dedicate their lives to the project, as they grow and develop.

The franchise is centered around the seven-member all-male group Anthos and the three-member all-male group Louloudi*. It spans across music, drama CDs, and merchandise.

The first drama CD, which included two songs, was released in June 2019. These drama CDs are known for their “intellectually stimulating” content, incorporating investigative elements.

The anime will adapt the “first season” of the drama CD series, titled Flowering. The franchise is currently in its third season of drama CDs.

A manga titled Hana-Doll Flowering Boys were still in a dream began serialization in Kodansha’s Shonen Magazine Edge in November 2020.
