Kadokawa Launches A New Manga For Code Geass Franchise, Pure Almaria

Kadokawa’s Kadocomi website introduced a new manga in the Code Geass franchise on Friday, titled Code Geass: Pure Almaria.

The manga is illustrated by Atsushi Soga, who previously worked on Code Geass: Hangyaku no Lelouch Gaiden: Shiro no Kishi Kurenai no Yasha, with the scenario written by Fumiya Nagatsuki. Series composition is being handled by Sunrise producer Kōjirō Taniguchi, and the planning is managed by Sunrise. Bandai Spirits and Hobby Japan are also collaborating on the project.

The storyline of the manga will bridge the events between Code Geass: Lelouch of the Re;surrection and Code Geass: Rozé of the Recapture within the Code Geass universe.

Set after the incident where Zero and Nunnally are kidnapped by the Kingdom of Zilkhstan, the story explores the consequences of this event.

The original Code Geass television series first aired in 2006, followed by a sequel series in 2008.

Code Geass Franchise, Pure Almaria

The franchise has since expanded into various manga adaptations and original video anime, including the five-part Code Geass: Akito the Exiled spinoff, which was shown in limited theatrical runs between 2012 and 2016 before being released on home video.

Additionally, the franchise boasts a compilation film trilogy, with the individual films premiering in Japan in October 2017, February 2018, and May 2018. Funimation later released the trilogy on Blu-ray Disc.

The Code Geass: Lelouch of the Re;surrection film debuted in February 2019 in Japan and was screened by Funimation in North America in May 2019. Producer Kōjirō Taniguchi revealed in April 2019 that the film represents “phase 1” of a 10-year plan for new Code Geass content.

The Code Geass: Rozé of the Recapture anime was released in four parts across Japanese theaters from May to August 2024 and also streamed on Disney+ as a series of 12 weekly episodes.

At a December event, several “new works in production” for the franchise were teased, hinting at more content in the future.
