The Kagurabachi manga, created by Takeru Hokazono, has sparked ongoing discussions about a potential anime adaptation.
According to a recent report, the anime adaptation of this Shueisha manga is set to be co-produced by CyberAgent and Shochiku, with animation handled by CyberAgent’s subsidiary, Cygames Pictures.
Is Kagurabachi Shonen Jump’s New Hit Manga?
Japanese business magazine Toyo Keizai has described Kagurabachi as a “comet,” labeling it the industry’s hottest property.
In the wake of the massive success of Demon Slayer and Jujutsu Kaisen, the anime industry has been on the hunt for the next big hit, and Kagurabachi appears to be a strong contender.
A producer cited in the magazine stated, “Titles like Akane-banashi and Kindergarten Wars are unlikely to become cultural phenomena as anime. We’ve nearly run out of promising Jump series for adaptations.”

Another producer added, “It [Kagurabachi] has all the elements to succeed both in Japan and internationally. If adapted into an anime, a hit is almost guaranteed.”
Highlighting the series’ international popularity, one producer emphasized, “The current must-have source material is Kagurabachi. Its buzz overseas is on another level.”
Although no official announcement has been made, many expect Kagurabachi to secure an anime adaptation in the near future.
This battle-action series made its debut in Weekly Shonen Jump in September 2023. Initially, it gained notoriety as an internet meme, with fans ironically hyping it as the next major sensation.
However, the manga soon proved itself to be genuinely well-received. To date, it has released five compiled volumes and achieved sales exceeding 1.3 million copies.
Fans can read the Kagurabachi manga digitally on Manga Plus. Additionally, Viz Media has acquired the license for the print version of the series.
