Kodansha has unveiled plans to reintroduce Hitoshi Iwaaki’s Parasyte manga in print with a fresh approach.
After previously releasing color editions, the publisher is now set to launch new versions featuring Iwaaki’s original black-and-white artwork. These editions will also include an updated translation, redesigned interiors, and new cover art.
The complete original series will be compiled into eight volumes, with the first release scheduled for this fall. The new translation, lettering, and format will align with that of the Parasyte Full Color Collection.
Originally serialized between 1989 and 1994, Parasyte has inspired multiple adaptations, including two live-action films, Madhouse’s 2014 anime adaptation Parasyte -the maxim-, and the upcoming live-action series Parasyte: The Grey, directed by Yeon Sang-ho.
Synopsis:
In the world of Parasyte, teenager Shinichi Izumi wakes up one night to a horrifying discovery—a bizarre creature burrowing under the skin of his right arm.

The Parasyte Manga
This entity is a Parasite, a being that invades human bodies, taking control and transforming them into shape-shifting monstrosities with an insatiable hunger for human flesh.
However, Shinichi manages to prevent the creature from reaching his brain by using a tourniquet, forcing it to take over only his arm. Now, two consciousnesses exist within the same body, each relying on the other for survival.
As more people fall victim to the Parasites, gruesome murders become increasingly common—heads split open to reveal gaping jaws filled with razor-sharp teeth, bat-like wings burst from human backs, and deadly blades emerge from soft flesh. Shinichi alone knows the terrifying truth behind these events.
But as the chaos escalates, can he find a way to coexist with his Parasite without endangering everyone he loves—let alone saving the rest of humanity?
