The 12th compiled volume of Suzuka’s manga adaptation of the second part of Miya Kazuki’s Ascendance of a Bookworm (Honzuki no Gekokujō – Shisho ni Naru Tame niwa Shudan o Erandeiramasen) “biblia fantasy” light novel series revealed on February 15 that the manga will conclude with its next volume.
The Ascendance of a Bookworm novels have four different manga adaptations, each covering different parts of the story and corresponding to multiple volumes of the series. Additionally, the novels include a fifth part that has not yet received a manga adaptation.
Suzuka’s adaptation of the second part debuted on TO Books’ Comic Corona (now Corona EX) website in September 2018. Suzuka also illustrated the manga adaptation of the first part, which originally ran on the Nico Nico Video website from October 2015 to December 2017 before transferring to Comic Corona, where it continued until July 2018.
The first part’s manga roughly aligns with the first season of the television anime adaptation, while the second part’s manga aligns with the second and third seasons of the anime.
Ryō Namino is responsible for the manga adaptation of Part 3, which began serialization in Comic Corona in April 2018 and is still ongoing.
Hikaru Katsuki is illustrating the adaptation of Part 4, which started in Comic Corona in December 2020 and is also ongoing. J-Novel Club is publishing the manga adaptations for Parts 1–4.
Miya Kazuki originally launched the Ascendance of a Bookworm novels on the Shōsetsuka ni Narō website in 2013 and concluded the web novel in 2017.

Ascendance of a Bookworm Second Part
The print edition, illustrated by You Shiina, reached its final volume with the release of Volume 33 (Volume 12 of Part 5) in December 2023. The series has surpassed 11 million copies in circulation, including digital editions.
The Hannelore no Kizokuin Gonensei spinoff story debuted on the same website in 2017 and remains ongoing.
J-Novel Club is publishing both the light novels and select manga adaptations in English. The publisher describes the story as follows:
A certain college girl who’s loved books ever since she was a little girl dies in an accident and is reborn in another world she knows nothing about.

The light novels inspired a television anime adaptation by Ajia-do, which has run for three seasons. The first season premiered in October 2019 and concluded in December 2019 with 14 episodes.

The second season aired in Japan in April 2020. Crunchyroll streamed both seasons as they aired in Japan and also provided an English dub. Additionally, two original video anime (OVA) episodes were released alongside a limited edition of the first novel from the series’ fifth part in March 2020.
The anime’s third season premiered in April 2022. Crunchyroll streamed the season as it aired and launched an English dub in May 2022. A fourth season is in development, which will adapt the third part of the novels.
