No\Name Manga Featured in Jump+ Canceled After 14 Chapters

The manga No\Name by Rafal Jaki and MACHINE GAMU has been officially canceled and will conclude with Chapter 14 next week. Rafal Jaki shared the news on X, expressing gratitude to fans for their support and revealing that the creative team is already working on a new project.

Jaki stated that he wished they could have done more with the series, elaborating in a follow-up that they had initially planned for a 360-page first arc. He also acknowledged the challenging reality of working with JUMP+, noting that “if you don’t have a hit, you get canceled.”

The series began serialization under Shueisha in July 2024 and marked a milestone as the publisher’s first manga created entirely by an overseas (non-Japanese) team.

Before its serialization, No\Name had garnered attention through the MANGA Plus Creators project, where it won the Gold Award in the September 2023 Monthly Awards.

Upon release, the first two chapters were published simultaneously, with subsequent chapters following a bi-weekly schedule starting from Chapter 3.

In addition to its digital release, the series also received a physical edition under the Jump Comics imprint in Japan. Volume 2 of the manga is set for release in Japan.

About No\Name

No\Name is set in a world where a person’s abilities are directly tied to their name. The story follows the Nordic Naming Bureau (NNB), which governs the assignment of names.

The plot focuses on a man whose wife and son have gone missing. The NNB becomes involved when the man decides to name his son after himself, leading to unforeseen consequences.

Background of the Creators

Rafal Jaki, the creator of No\Name, is best known for his work as the showrunner and executive producer of the anime Cyberpunk: Edgerunners. MACHINE GAMU, the series’ illustrator, specializes in black-and-white art with intricate shading.

The MANGA Plus Creators project, run directly by Shueisha’s editorial department in Japan, encourages international creators to submit their manga for monthly awards.

It offers cash prizes and the opportunity for standout works to be published on platforms like MANGA Plus by Shueisha and Shonen JUMP+. No\Name was the first series from this initiative to achieve full serialization on these platforms.
