Rise of the Ronin Game Trailer Revealed, Set To Debut on Steam

On Monday, Koei Tecmo America began streaming an announcement trailer for Rise of the Ronin, a game developed by Team Ninja, a studio under Koei Tecmo Games.

The trailer revealed that the game will be released for PC via Steam on March 10. Pre-orders for the Steam version are now available.

The Steam version of the game will feature several exclusive PC enhancements, including:

  • Support for 8K resolution
  • DirectX 12 Ultimate compatibility
  • Compatibility with ultra-wide and super ultra-wide monitors
  • 120fps support
  • Ray tracing support
  • 3D audio support
  • Customizable keyboard and mouse controls
  • AMD Fidelity FX Super Resolution support
  • NVIDIA DLSS and Reflex support
  • UI menu that is clickable with a mouse
  • Support for Intel XeSS graphics technology

Players who pre-order the game by April 2 will receive an early purchase bonus, which includes four combat styles: Hayabusa-ryu for Katana, Hayabusa-ryu for Naginata, Nioh-ryu for Katana, and Aisu Kage-ryu for Katana.

The bonus also includes the Iga Ninja armor set and the Iga Ninja’s katana. The game is scheduled for release on PlayStation 5 in March 2024.

Set in Japan in 1863, during the Bakumatsu era, the game marks the end of the Tokugawa shogunate. Sony provides the following story description:

It’s darkest before dawn. In Rise of the Ronin, you will explore a changing world as you fight to forge a new era for Japan. As a Ronin, a warrior free from any masters or obligations, your fate intertwines with key characters in a combat-driven, immersive action experience.

According to Team Ninja director and president Fumihiko Yasuda, development on Rise of the Ronin began in 2015.

Team Ninja is renowned for developing the Ninja Gaiden video game series. Their most recent release, Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty, launched in March 2023 for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
