Fuji TV has also released a visual featuring Mizuki and the various designs of Kitarō across the six seasons.

The most recent GeGeGe no Kitarō anime series—the franchise’s sixth television adaptation—premiered in April 2018, taking over the timeslot previously occupied by Dragon Ball Super. The series concluded in March 2020 after airing 97 episodes.

The anime film Kitarō Tanjō: Gegege no Nazo (The Birth of Kitarō: The Mystery of GeGeGe) debuted in Japan in November 2023. During its opening weekend, the film sold 111,500 tickets and earned 160,106,620 yen (approximately US$1.07 million) within its first three days.

A recut version of the film, titled Kitarō Tanjō: Gegege no Nazo Shinsei-ban (True Birth Version), premiered in Japanese theaters on October 4. The original version of the film carried a PG12 rating, while the revised edition was given an R15+ rating.

Mizuki’s manga, which originally debuted in 1959 under the title Hakaba Kitarō, has inspired seven television anime adaptations (including one based on Hakaba Kitarō), multiple animated feature films, and two live-action movies. The story follows an inhuman boy who exists between the human and supernatural realms, navigating both worlds.
