Recently, Rakuten listed the first volume of a new manga by Masahiro Anbe, best known as the creator of the Squid Girl (Ikamusume) series. Initially, there were no announcements regarding its serialization in any magazine, leading to speculation that it would be released directly in tankobon format.
However, it has now been confirmed that this new manga will indeed be serialized in a magazine. The first volume is set for release on June 6, and with the serialization beginning shortly before that, it aligns with the timeline that has emerged.
Kodansha has revealed that the series will debut earlier than expected. It will start serialization in Young Magazine on February 3, 2025, following the magazine’s regular weekly schedule.
What We Know About the New Manga
The new manga, titled Akuma de Fukei, features a title that plays with words, possibly meaning both “disrespecting the devil” and “protecting the devil.” The word “fukei” is written in hiragana instead of kanji, making it open to interpretation, with both meanings fitting the story. This ambiguity adds a layer of intrigue to the plot.

The manga is a romantic comedy set in a police station in a rural area. It follows the story of Eclair, a demon “policewoman” who chooses to station herself in a police box, hoping to find an evil human to become her servant. Her coworker, Daichi Kuwahara, prefers to send her back to the demon world but struggles to do so due to her clumsy nature.
Other Works By Masahiro Anbe
Masahiro Anbe is most famous for creating Squid Girl, a manga about a squid girl who aims to conquer the world and seek vengeance for the ocean’s pollution caused by humans.
Her mission starts from a beach in Japan, where she accidentally damages a local restaurant and is forced to work as a waitress to compensate the restaurant owners, the Aizawa siblings.
After completing Squid Girl, Anbe went on to serialize Atsumare! Fushigi Kenkyuu-bu, which, as of now, has not been officially published in English.
