Mitsutaka Yoshida, a leading executive at Toho, has expressed strong optimism about the potential box office success of the next installment in the Demon Slayer anime film series.
Set to release in 2025, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Infinity Castle is anticipated to achieve groundbreaking results, potentially reshaping the industry.
During a presentation at Toho Cinemas Hibiya in Tokyo, Toho launched its 2025 film lineup alongside its 2024 box office revenue reports.

Reflecting on the remarkable global earnings of Mugen Train, which generated approximately 40.4 billion yen, Yoshida conveyed confidence in the studio’s ability to surpass that milestone. “By collaborating across various sectors, we aim to raise Infinity Castle to an unprecedented level of success,” he stated.
Meanwhile, fans of Demon Slayer can look forward to the return of Tanjiro Kamado and his sister Nezuko in an upcoming video game, available on PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo, and PC.
Toho’s aspirations for Infinity Castle align with its track record of high-performing releases. If successful, the film could outshine 2024’s top earner, Detective Conan: The Million-Dollar Pentagram, which brought in 15.8 billion yen. Other titles, including Haikyu!!
The Dumpster Battle and Spy × Family Code: White, also contributed so much, each surpassing five billion yen in revenue. Reflecting on the year, Toho Director Minami Ichikawa highlighted the impressive performance of both anime and live-action projects.
Looking ahead to 2025, Infinity Castle will be joined by Scarlet, a new film from acclaimed director Mamoru Hosoda, expanding the studio’s diverse offerings.
According to U-Next, one of Japan’s top streaming platforms, the Demon Slayer franchise remains a dominant force. Its Hashira Training Arc ranked second among the most popular anime series of 2024, surpassed only by The Apothecary Diaries.
Other famous entries in the rankings included Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End, Mashle Season 2, and Jujutsu no Kaisen Season 2. This enduring popularity underscores the franchise’s continued impact on fans worldwide.
